18.01.2008 1st BestDrive Continental Truck Tyre Centre in Kedah The 1st BestDrive Continental Truck Tyre Centre opens in Kedah, Malaysia. Jai Wei Tyres started the tyre-retailing business in 1990 at Jalan Sepat 1, Alor Star. In 1997, they bought another outlet in Seberang Jalan Putra. This is followed by 2 more outlets, 1 in 2001 and another in 2003. To usher in the New Year, they were upgraded to become a member of the BestDrive Continental Truck Tyre Centre family. Currently the group has a total of 4 outlets. This year also marks their 18th anniversary in the tire business. On this auspicious occasion, Mr. Tan Ah Ba, Managing Director for Jai Wei Tyres Sdn. Bhd. took the opportunity to donate to two charitable organizations – Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PDK) Jitra and Buddhist Tzu-Chi Merits Society Malaysia (Kedah). This event was graced by YB Dato’ Chong Itt Chew, State Exco - Transportations, Industry, Trades, Consumer Affairs and Chinese Community Affairs Committee Chairman, representing the YAB Dato’ Seri Mahdzir bin Khalid, the Chief Minister of Kedah, YB Dato’ Chor Chee Heung, Member of Parliament for Alor Star, YB Dato’ Hj Mukhti bin Abdullah, Mayor of Alor Star as well as the Kedah State Exco and Assemblymen. Many of the locals turned up in car-loads in support for this event. Mr. Benoit Henry, Chief Executive Officer of Continental Sime Tyre Sdn. Bhd.
